"Kairanban" keeps communication in local communities

Hi, Bloggers!

Do you know "Kairanban" system which is managed by residence groups in local community in my country. It means "Circulation Notice Board" among people there. What notice is on the board? Yes, there are several informations like monthly reports of neighborhood self-governing body, notice of cleaning activity, event information held in civic center, suspicious information in case and etc., etc..

Information delivery above is a main purpose of the system, but I think the meaning of this system is more over that. What is it? It's a custom to give greeting and communicating each other. Now on we tend to not take care of each other in the daily life. Delivering "Kairanban" to my neighbors' house provides the chance to talk person up there. If there is not the system, we have just a few chances to think of each other nevertheless we are living in and share a same local place.

This system make us feel a very old style of delivering information, but it keeps chance to enrich relationship among people nearby and share the same place here around. And it also expected to strengthen custom of helping each other when we face big disasters.

We can not laugh nor throw away this local communication system so far up to a period which high tech communication method and system replaces old one.
